Free Health Camp and Health Card Distribution Held at Vailankanni Mini Hall, Farla
July 20, 2025: A Free Health Check-up Camp and Health Card Distribution event was successfully organized on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Vailankanni Mini Hall in Farla. The event was jointly initiated by Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R.), Farla Unit, health Commission in association with Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Kankanady, and Father Muller Health Centre, Thumbay.
The camp began at 8:30 AM and continued until 1:00 PM, witnessing an enthusiastic turnout of parishioners and locals who availed themselves of the free medical services offered.
In his inaugural address Fr Mark Dsouza, the Parish Priest spoke about the importance of preventing the sickness and living a healthy life.
A dedicated team of medical professionals from Father Muller institutions conducted health screenings and provided consultations. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and ensure that the community members are equipped with basic medical support.

Mr. Naveen Menezes, President, Catholic Sabha, Farla Unit, Mrs Severine Dsouza, coordinator, Health Commission, Farla in consultation with the Parish Priest Fr Mark Dsouza SAC.
The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of JMJ Bakery, Menezes wood Industries, Jakribettu, secure Health Insurance B. C. Road, Vivid Aluminium Fabrication. Refreshments were served to all participants and volunteers.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo, the Director and Rev Fr Vincent Sylvester the administrator of Fr Muller's college and all the doctors, nurses, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of the camp. The program reflected the Church's commitment to the physical and spiritual well-being of the community
Vanamahotsava 2025 Celebrated at Farla Church
The ICYM Farla Unit, along with the Environmental Commission, celebrated Vanamahotsava on 6th July 2025 at Farla Church.
Rev. Fr Mark D’Souza, the parish priest, was present for the event and gave saplings to the ward leaders. The Director, Animators, and youth also planted saplings in the church premises, hoping for a greener and better future.
The event ended with a vote of thanks. It was a joyful and exciting day for everyone.

YCS Farla Unit Celebrates Silver Jubilee with "YUVOTSAV 2K25"
The YCS Unit of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, joyfully celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 26th April 2025 with the grand event "YUVOTSAV 2K25".
The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Roshan D'Cunha, YCS Director of the Mangalore Diocese. Following the Mass, the Jubilee programme was inaugurated with the unveiling of the event logo by Rev. Fr. Roshan D'Cunha. In his inaugural address, he emphasized that youth is the golden age of life and encouraged everyone to utilize their talents and energy for the betterment of themselves and society.
A special moment of mourning was observed for the late Pope Francis, offering prayers for his soul and remembering his contributions to the Church and the youth.
A felicitation ceremony was held to honor Ms. Sabitha Monis, an inspiring achiever despite her physical challenges, and Mr. Leswin Sequeira, Yuvatare Editor of YCS Mangalore Diocese and a proud member of the Farla Unit, for their dedication and contributions to YCS.
Former animators Mrs. Judith Pais and Mrs. Zita Menezes, along with current animators Mrs. Sunitha Baptist and Ms. Josna Vas, were also honored for their commited service to the movement.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Mark D'Souza, in his presidential address, appreciated the selfless service rendered by the YCS in the parish. Mr. Anson Nazareth, National President, spoke passionately about Pope Francis's vision for the youth, highlighting the importance of bringing young minds closer to the Church and society.
Ms. Sabitha Monis shared her inspiring life story, motivating the youth to overcome obstacles with determination and hope. A well- organized documentary showcasing the 25 - year journey of YCS Farla was presented, followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance by the Unit members.
Adding to the festivities , a Konkani comedy film titled "Lucky Draw 777," produced and directed by Mr. Rayan Magneto, was screened, entertaining and bringing smiles to all present.
The event witnessed the presence of PPC Vice President Mr. Naveen Menezes, PPC Secretary Mrs. Hilda Periera, All Commisions Coordinator Mrs. Sunitha Rodrigues, National YCS President Mr. Anson Nazareth, Diocesan YCS President Mr. Deyon Saldanha, and Unit President Ms. Ashlyn Lasrado, who graced the occasion on the dais.
Ms. Renita Monteiro presented the YCS Annual Report of the 2024-25 academic year, highlighting the various activities and achievements of the Unit throughout the year.
The programme was gracefully compered by Ms. Adline Vas. Unit President Ms. Ashlyn Lasrado welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Eva D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
A special highlight of the event was the "YUVOTSAV 2K25" title track, composed by Mr. Leswin Sequeira and written by Mrs. Sunitha Baptist. A flash mob performance based on the title track was also presented on 19th April, after the Easter Vigil Mass, creating excitement and anticipation for the event.
The memorable celebration concluded with the singing of the YCS Anthem, filling the hearts of all with joy and pride.

Novena Prayers Begin at Our Lady of Vailankanni Church
November 28, 2024: Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, Bantwal, began its 9-day Novena prayers with the hoisting of the flag of Our Lady of Vailankanni by Rev. Fr. Charles Fernandes, Pallottine priest, as part of the preparation for the annual church feast. The Holy Rosary was recited, Novena prayers were offered, and Holy Mass was celebrated. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Mark D'Souza prayed for various intentions. Many devotees attended and prayed on this day.
Renovated Grotto of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church Farla
November 24, 2024: The renovated Grotto of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, Bantwal, was blessed by the Bishop Emeritus of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza.
Holy Mass was offered in the morning by the Bishop and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Mark Arun D'Souza, and continued with a small stage program. The donors, well-wishers, and Parish Priest were felicitated by the Bishop. The Gold Medalist and First Rank holder in a Master's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Miss Sanrita Madtha, was honored at the same time. Mr. Vincent Lasrado conducted the program. Mr. Naveen Menezes, Vice President, welcomed, and Mrs. Hilda Pereira, Secretary, gave the vote of thanks. All Commissions Convenor, Mrs. Sunita Rodrigues, was present at the program.
YCS Bantwal Deanery Organizes Fruitful YCS Convention at Farla.
October 06, 2024: YCS Bantwal Deanery conducted a YCS Convention at Vailankanni Sabha Bhavan, Farla, where 161 students attended. The convention was organised to inspire young minds through faith, encouragement, and collaboration.
The day started with a prayer song by the Modankap unit, followed by an inaugural ceremony blessed by Fr. Mark D'Souza, Fr. Roshan D'Cunha, Fr. Lancy D'Souza, and other guests. Mr. Jayden Lobo, YCS Bantwal Deanery President, greeted the assembly, and Fr. Mark D'Souza emphasised the role of youth in the Church.
The sessions included action songs by YCS Central Council, a motivational talk on personality development and church activities by Fr. Roshan D'Cunha, and a cell meeting demonstration. A Holy Mass was celebrated at 12:10 PM.
In the afternoon, Fr. Alwyn Richard D'Souza delivered a session on marriage and family life. Participants engaged in group activities and games to foster teamwork.
Fr. Lancy D'Souza expressed gratitude to everyone involved. The convention concluded at 4:00 PM with the YCS Anthem and the YCS clap, marking a successful and enriching event.
Nativity of Mary (Monti Fest)
September 8, 2024: Celebration of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary also know as Monti Fest in Konkan region of India
This day is a celebration of 4 fest put together namely Monti Fest, First Crop Fest, Women's Day, Family Day.
In preparation of Nativity, A 9 day novena(prayer) worshiping Mary with flowers was conducted from 31 August. On Sep 8 morning; the final day of novena along with worship of the Mary, rice paddy crop will be blessed and distributed to the fateful of the church. As per the tradition of Mangalorian Konkans, these grans are mixed with meal by the head of the family and have a family lunch.
Thereafter Celebration mass was held in Vailankanni Church as part of this celebration. Finally Sugarcane's are distibuted to the parish pepole.
78th Independence day Celebration | Assumption of Mary
August 15, 2024: At the Vailankanni Church, Farla celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and Independence Day with a special Mass and a flag-hoisting ceremony, blending patriotic observance with spiritual reflection.
The day began with the Holy Eucharistic Mass in celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. After the Mass, the 78th Independence Day was marked by hoisting the flag and singing the national anthem. The respected dignitaries and individuals who contributed to the Indian Army were escorted to the flag-hoisting area by the children of Farla Primary School, accompanied by a band unit.
The dignitaries delivered speeches on the significance of the event. The program concluded with a patriotic song and a vote of thanks.
