ICYM Farla Hosts Annual Celebration - Pallotti Yuva Divas 2026 

The ICYM Unit of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, joyfully celebrated its Annual Event, Palloti Yuva Divas, on 5th April 2026 (Easter Sunday) at the Farla Church Grounds. The event was organized in support of the renovation and centenary celebrations of St. Jacob’s School.

The celebration witnessed the esteemed presence of dignitaries, parishioners, and youth, making the occasion vibrant and memorable with great enthusiasm and unity. The programme commenced with a grand welcome as the dignitaries were escorted to the venue to the rhythmic beats of the traditional chenda, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere.

A warm welcome address was delivered by the ICYM President, Ms. Venisha Reema Menezes, who greeted the gathering and set the tone for the celebration. The programme also paid tribute to St. Vincent Pallotti, the patron of the parish youth, honoring his inspiring legacy.

The event was graced by the distinguished Chief Guest, Mr. Anil John Sequeira, Additional Civil Judge and JMFC, Honnavar, who was felicitated as a mark of respect and appreciation. In his address, he motivated the youth and their parents to actively consider opportunities in the government sector, encouraging them to prepare for competitive examinations for a secure future and to contribute towards building a strong and value-based Christian community. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, education, and social responsibility among young people.

Also present on the dais were Rev. Fr. Praveen D’Souza (Designated Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese) and Rev. Fr. Mark Arun D’Souza (Parish Priest and President of the programme), who appreciated the efforts of the youth and imparted their blessings to the gathering.

Rev. Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas (ICYM Director, Farla Unit), Rev. Fr. Theodore D'Cunha (Socius Priest), Mr. Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza (ICYM President, Mangalore Diocese), Mr. Prem Jeethan Pinto (ICYM Bantwal Deanery President), Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Steevan Castelino, Secretary Mrs. Sunitha Baptist, All Commission Coordinator Mrs. Irene D’Souza, Youth Commission In-charge Mr. Ivan Arun Menezes, and ICYM Farla Unit Animators Mr. Arun Monthu Barboza and Mrs. Priya Jyothi Cutinha were also present and extended their support and encouragement to the ICYM members.

The Annual Report was presented by the ICYM Farla Unit Secretary, Ms. Ancilla D’Souza, highlighting the various activities and achievements of the unit throughout the year.

The formal programme was efficiently compered by Mrs. Priya Jyothi Cutinha. The event featured a felicitation programme and the distribution of prizes for various competitions conducted throughout the year. A short documentary on St. Jacob’s School was also screened, marking its centenary celebrations.

The highlight of the event was the special attraction - SBG Travels Konkani Comedy Drama by Nellu Permannur and team - which brought joy and entertainment, adding a lively spirit to the celebration.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by the Amcho Yuvak/PRO Representative, Mr. Leswin Sequeira, who expressed sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, well-wishers, donors, and volunteers for their valuable contributions towards the success of the event.

ICYM & YCS Farla present inspiring Way of the Cross with shadow acting 

Apr 3, 2026: On the solemn occasion of Good Friday, ICYM and YCS Farla organized a unique and spiritually moving Way of the Cross inside the church, introducing an innovative concept of shadow acting.

The youth creatively portrayed the 14 Stations of the Cross using shadow performances, beautifully combining faith with modern expression. The presentation also reflected current social realities, making it more meaningful and relatable to the faithful.            

The program witnessed an overwhelming response from parishioners, who were deeply impressed by the creativity and dedication of the participants. The initiative was widely appreciated as a powerful and refreshing way to engage the community in prayer and reflection.

Parish priest Fr Mark Arun D'Souza appreciated the efforts of the youth and congratulated them for the successful execution of the program. Fr Gilbert Mascarenhas, Fr Theo and Br Jaison Nickson D'Souza were also present and witnessed the meaningful presentation.

The event stood as a testament to the unity, talent, and strong faith of the youth, leaving a lasting impact on all those present.

ICYM & YCS Farla Visit to Daya Special School   

ICYM & YCS team from Farla Church visited Daya Special School with YCS Animators. 

We spent happy time with the students through games, talks, and laughter. 

The visit reminded us that kindness and care can brighten lives. 

We thank the Daya Special School staff for their warm welcome. 

The experience inspired all of us to serve with more compassion.

Taizè Prayer Service organised by ICYM Farla Unit 

On March 15, 2026:  ICYM Farla hosted a beautiful Taizé Prayer Service led by Fr. Anil Avild Lobo. Around 120 faithful, including many children, gathered to sing soul-stirring hymns led by the Youth Choir. The serene evening provided a deeply meaningful experience, allowing the community to connect with their faith and each other.

Free Health Camp and Health Card Distribution Held at Vailankanni Mini Hall, Farla

July 20, 2025: A Free Health Check-up Camp and Health Card Distribution event was successfully organized on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Vailankanni Mini Hall in Farla. The event was jointly initiated by Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R.), Farla Unit, health Commission in association with Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Kankanady, and Father Muller Health Centre, Thumbay.

The camp began at 8:30 AM and continued until 1:00 PM, witnessing an enthusiastic turnout of parishioners and locals who availed themselves of the free medical services offered.

In his inaugural address Fr Mark Dsouza, the Parish Priest spoke about the importance of preventing the sickness and living a healthy life.

A dedicated team of medical professionals from Father Muller institutions conducted health screenings and provided consultations. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and ensure that the community members are equipped with basic medical support.

The camp was coordinated by:

Mr. Naveen Menezes, President, Catholic Sabha, Farla Unit, Mrs Severine Dsouza, coordinator, Health Commission, Farla in consultation with the Parish Priest Fr Mark Dsouza SAC.

The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of JMJ Bakery, Menezes wood Industries, Jakribettu,  secure Health Insurance B. C. Road, Vivid Aluminium Fabrication. Refreshments were served to all participants and volunteers.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo, the Director and Rev Fr Vincent Sylvester the administrator of Fr Muller's college and all the doctors, nurses, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of the camp. The program reflected the Church's commitment to the physical and spiritual well-being of the community

Vanamahotsava 2025 Celebrated at Farla Church

The ICYM Farla Unit, along with the Environmental Commission, celebrated Vanamahotsava on 6th July 2025 at Farla Church. 

Rev. Fr Mark D’Souza, the parish priest, was present for the event and gave saplings to the ward leaders. The Director, Animators, and youth also planted saplings in the church premises, hoping for a greener and better future. 

The event ended with a vote of thanks. It was a joyful and exciting day for everyone.

The YCS Unit of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, joyfully celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 26th April 2025 with the grand event "YUVOTSAV 2K25".

The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Roshan D'Cunha, YCS Director of the Mangalore Diocese. Following the Mass, the Jubilee programme was inaugurated with the unveiling of the event logo by Rev. Fr. Roshan D'Cunha. In his inaugural address, he emphasized that youth is the golden age of life and encouraged everyone to utilize their talents and energy for the betterment of themselves and society.

A special moment of mourning was observed for the late Pope Francis, offering prayers for his soul and remembering his contributions to the Church and the youth.

A felicitation ceremony was held to honor Ms. Sabitha Monis, an inspiring achiever despite her physical challenges, and Mr. Leswin Sequeira, Yuvatare Editor of YCS Mangalore Diocese and a proud member of the Farla Unit, for their dedication and contributions to YCS.

Former animators Mrs. Judith Pais and Mrs. Zita Menezes, along with current animators Mrs. Sunitha Baptist and Ms. Josna Vas, were also honored for their commited service to the movement.

Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Mark D'Souza, in his presidential address, appreciated the selfless service rendered by the YCS in the parish. Mr. Anson Nazareth, National President, spoke passionately about Pope Francis's vision for the youth, highlighting the importance of bringing young minds closer to the Church and society.

Ms. Sabitha Monis shared her inspiring life story, motivating the youth to overcome obstacles with determination and hope. A well- organized documentary showcasing the 25 - year journey of YCS Farla was presented, followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance by the Unit members.

Adding to the festivities , a Konkani  comedy film titled "Lucky Draw 777," produced and directed by Mr. Rayan Magneto, was screened, entertaining and bringing smiles to all present.

The event witnessed the presence of PPC Vice President Mr. Naveen Menezes, PPC Secretary Mrs. Hilda Periera, All Commisions Coordinator Mrs. Sunitha Rodrigues, National YCS President Mr. Anson Nazareth, Diocesan YCS President Mr. Deyon Saldanha, and Unit President Ms. Ashlyn Lasrado, who graced the occasion on the dais.

Ms. Renita Monteiro presented the YCS Annual Report of the 2024-25 academic year, highlighting the various activities and achievements of the Unit throughout the year.

The programme was gracefully compered by Ms. Adline Vas. Unit President Ms. Ashlyn Lasrado welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Eva D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

A special highlight of the event was the "YUVOTSAV 2K25" title track, composed by Mr. Leswin Sequeira and written by Mrs. Sunitha Baptist. A flash mob performance based on the title track was also presented on 19th April, after the Easter Vigil Mass, creating excitement and anticipation for the event.

The memorable celebration concluded with the singing of the YCS Anthem, filling the hearts of all with joy and pride.
